Interbois and Sustainable Development: It’s in Our Nature

Every day is an opportunity for us to take positive action for the environment. Wood, being the ultimate renewable resource, is at the core of our identity. It represents both our raw material and our vision for the future. This is why our eco-friendly approach is intertwined with our ambitions; it nurtures and guides them. To support this, we have established a dedicated committee for sustainable development. Its mission is to incorporate environmentally friendly practices into our daily operations and encourage every team member to participate.
Concrete Actions for Commitment
Over the years, we have launched several initiatives that demonstrate our commitment to building a greener future, one action at a time.
- For instance, partnering with Shred-it for paper recycling not only reduces our waste but also allows us to tally the number of trees saved each year—a small gesture with a considerable impact.
- We collect used pencils, pens, markers, and other office supplies to give them a second life instead of sending them to the landfill.
- Bins have been placed throughout our premises to simplify the sorting of recyclable materials such as beverage cans, cardboard, plastics, and aerosol containers.
- We have minimized our paper consumption by limiting prints and opting for digital versions whenever feasible.
- Our residual materials are recycled in collaboration with Veolia and Phoenix Environmental Services, both accredited by SOGHU, ensuring responsible management of our industrial waste.
- At our factory entrance, four wooden bins feature a self-service garden, where herbs, vegetables, and small fruits grow during the season, available for everyone to enjoy.
- From April 1 to May 30, 2025, the “No Use Anymore” initiative invites employees and citizens to drop off unused electronic devices (such as phones, printers, GPS, and audio systems) in a designated bin.
- We also collect used batteries and transport them to the official drop-off point at our local post office.
- Furthermore, we have adopted other subtle yet significant habits, such as displaying health and safety prevention posters in collaboration with CNESST, replacing sugar packets with reusable containers, and opting for communal milk pints instead of individual containers.

Every action, no matter how small, contributes to a broader movement towards transforming our practices. As a company, we believe it’s our responsibility to inspire and engage others.
What about you? What is your next initiative to make a difference? Together, let’s take sustainable actions today that will benefit future generations.
