« T » molding select oak

For a better layout with hardwood flooring, solid wood doors or other architectural elements, Interbois offers a selection of solid hardwood components in solid oak and maple.

Solid red oak (select):

• Highly textured wood with tight hollow veins. Its color is always light brown with a touch of red and has only little variations;
• Excellent ability to dye;
• Its high density gives it legendary strength and very high mechanical resistance.
• If placed outdoors but not in direct contact with the ground is has great and a life expectancy of centuries. The heart of this species of wood is very resistant to drought and humidity cycles.

Solid maple (select):

• A uniform white wood with fine texture, it’s heart ranges from a light yellowish color to reddish brown;
• Its finish is clean and smooth with a tight grain that is suitable for any use;
• You can easily polish it and many users leave it a natural color since there are new transparent coatings available on the market that prevent the wood to turn yellowish.

Specifics and Warnings:

Hardwood is normally dyed or varnished and used to maintain the appearance of the woods grain. It is strongly recommended to lightly sand the wood moldings and clean them before dyeing or varnishing.

Allow wood to acclimate to air at ambient heat 48 to 72 hours before installation. Do not store in the basement or in an unheated garage.

With hardwood, it preferable to pre-drill the molding before nailing it to avoid cracking, especially when using hand tools.
